Karen is an association management professional with over a decade of experience advancing governance, volunteer engagement, and organizational excellence for leading membership organizations. Currently, she is the Manager, Governance and Global Volunteer Services at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), where she empowers volunteers and drives effective governance on a global scale.
Previously, she was the Senior Manager of Governance at the Society of Actuaries (SOA), supporting the Board of Directors, leading elections, and strengthening policy administration. Her association management journey began at the American Academy of Actuaries, where she provided legal and administrative support focused on professionalism and ethical guidance. Her paralegal background created a strong foundation of ethics, professionalism, and project management that she brings to every role she serves.
A champion of life-long learning, she is passionate about developing both members and colleagues—whether through staff training initiatives or her volunteer work with Association Forum and ASAE. She earned the CAE designation in 2021 and was honored as one of Association Forum’s Forty Under 40 the same year. Karen holds a Bachelor’s degree in History, With Honors, from Loyola University Chicago and a Paralegal Certificate, With Honors, from Roosevelt University Chicago.
Outside of work, Karen recently served her community as an elected Trustee and Board Secretary for her local library district. She believes that strong governance, empowered volunteers, and a culture of continuous learning are the keys to vibrant, impactful associations.
