Supplier Partner Industry Essentials Series: Decision-Making at Associations
As an industry partner you’re an important part of the association team; but marketing and sales to associations are different than in the B2B environment. And even if you have experience in the nonprofit world, associations differ from other nonprofits. Learn how to be successful with associations in a session designed to tell you what you need to know and more about the Chicago association community. Walk away with a better understanding of how to build and sustain successful and fruitful relationships with associations.

Philip Lesser, PhD, CAE
Philip Lesser, PhD, CAE, is a nationally-known leader in association management. His expertise is in assisting volunteer and staff leaders in governance, leadership development, and strategic positioning.
Dr. Lesser retired as Vice President of Bostrom, a professional services firm specializing in management and consulting services to nonprofit organizations, after which serving as a CEO and executive of several client associations including among others the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Microscopy Society of America, and the American Association of Orthopædic Medicine, he was the lead consultant with Bostrom Consulting Associates.
Prior to joining Bostrom he was a CEO and executive with national and international associations including the American Bar Association, the International College of Surgeons, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; and on the faculty of several universities, including the University of Chicago and The Ohio State University. He has also been an active volunteer, among other positions serving as chair of the Association Forum of Chicagoland and for the American Society of Association Executives [ASAE] chair of both the Certified Association Executive Commission and the CEO Advisory Board.
He is a frequent contributor to professional publications and a popular presenter at educational events. The Association Forum awarded him the John C. Thiel Distinguished Service Award for long-term, multi-faceted leadership.
Educated at Washington University and the University of Chicago, he holds a PhD in Administration and Policy Development. In addition, he is a Certified Association Executive [CAE] awarded by the American Society of Association Executives. He also participated in the United States Chamber of Commerce Institutes for Organization Management at the University of Notre Dame
In his spare time he does less downhill skiing and sea kayaking than he would like.
