Career Mapping for Future Generations
What is career mapping? Why should it matter to you and your
organization? Career mapping is a codified approach to career management in a
changing world and a strategy that helps ensure achievement of excellence in a
chosen field or profession. It matters because it makes everything that follows
intentional, driven and more successful. Think about it, when you were in
school, what drove you past “senioritis” to complete your degree, certification
or other credential before you could move to your next phase of life?
Intentionality - the plan!
This session will address why career mapping is important and
what information is usually contained in it that facilitates critical choices
based on talent, expertise and passion. Some people fall into the career or
profession of their dreams, others map it!
Learning Objectives:
- Understand what career mapping
is and what it is not
- Strategically attack
creating/using a career map to achieve your goals
- Recognize why we map professions
and not jobs and what difference it makes
- Appreciate why career mapping is
not only important to individuals but also organizations
