How to Write a Conclusion in an Essay for the SAT

In other words, there should be no new information in the conclusion. Is it really that simple? Yes and no. If you don't have time, one sentence is enough. The main thing is to finish the thought and put a point in the mcessay (the conclusion should give the text a sense of completeness). This is enough if the examiner decides what grade you deserve, even without having read to the end. However, if you have more time at your disposal, it does not hurt to add a few finishing touches to the conclusion. No, you don't need to write a long paragraph. Moreover, if you still have so much time, it is better to take care of the main part of the essay. Ideally, the conclusion should consist of several sentences. Here is a simple "recipe" that will help you finish your essay perfectly.

First sentence: describe the topic once again.

Second sentence: rephrase the main idea of the essay.

Third sentence: add a "final chord."

Let's illustrate this "recipe" in action with the following example:

Knowledge is power. In agriculture, medicine, and industry, for example, knowledge has liberated us from hunger, disease, and tedious labor. Today, however, our knowledge has become so powerful that it is beyond our control.

(Knowledge is power. For example, it has liberated us from hunger, disease, and tedious labor in the fields of agriculture, medicine, and industry. Recently, however, our knowledge has increased so much that we have lost control over it.)

Let's say you wrote a good essay about how information is out of human control. (Chances are, you were talking about the rapid development of Internet technology.) It's time to draw a conclusion. It is not necessary to repeat individual thoughts from the main text, but it is not forbidden either. Let's now write the conclusion according to the above "recipe", breaking it down into sentences.

Proposition 1 Knowledge can liberate us, but it can also limit us. (Knowledge can liberate us as well as limit us.) Proposition 2 Yet, today knowledge has become so vast as to become unmanageable, and ultimately beyond our control. (Recently our knowledge has become so vast that we can neither operate it nor control it.)
Proposition 3 Unless, we can find a way to once again ensure that knowledge works for us, it will inevitably work against us. (Unless we can find a way to make knowledge work for us, it will inevitably work against us.)
Conclusion (Combine all three sentences) Knowledge can liberate us, but it can also limit us.

Yet, today knowledge has become so vast as to become unmanageable, and ultimately beyond our control. Unless, we can find a way to once again ensure that knowledge works for us, it will inevitably work against us. There is no need to invent anything extraordinary This conclusion can hardly be called very informative, interesting, or original.

Quite the contrary.

The main thing is that we have achieved the required result: summarizing the essay in a few sentences. Your task is to write a coherent ending paper writing websites. The point is that you shouldn't spend a lot of time on the conclusion, it's better to give a few more minutes to the main text. Instead of agonizing over the final part, think about how to improve the essay as a whole. Important note It is important to remember: this article outlines a simplified approach. By itself, it does not guarantee a great result. If you do not follow this scheme, but fill your essay with deep thoughts and color it with exquisite style, chances are you will still get a high score. In other words, if you write well, don't suddenly change your style. You shouldn't think that examiners give preference to the pattern we've described.
