Your Organization’s Strategy Depends on Your Digital Maturity
How does your organization talk about its technology? What about your members? Does the word “frustrating” come up often? Does technology work quietly (or loudly) in the background? Does it support and enable your organization’s mission and business objectives? Most organizations find their technology limiting, or at best, simply functional.
In this non-technical deep dive, we will share how to assess your organization’s current state of digital maturity so that it can start moving along the continuum from restrictive to innovative in its use of technology. Using an IT Maturity Model as a framework, we’ll focus on the four main quadrants of an organization’s technology:
- Online presence
- Governance and management
We will also review how any organization, large or small, can create a technology project portfolio and digital strategy that aligns with its mission, vision, and business objectives. This conversation and process is meant for the organization’s leadership team – including technology leadership.
After the session, you will have:
- An understanding that IT should be a business unit and not a support department within your organization
- An understanding of what it takes for an organization to be strategic in its use of technology
- An IT maturity self-assessment tool
- A model and process for developing a project portfolio and digital strategy
David A. Coriale, MBA -President DelCor
David A. Coriale has been with DelCor for more than 25 years, 22 of which he has been a co-owner. As DelCor’s President, Dave leads the company’s strategic and operational functions. A creative at heart, he has a particular interest in digital strategy.
Dave is the author of DelCor’s IT Maturity Model for Associations and Nonprofits, which serves as a guide for helping organizations align technology initiatives with their strategic plans and business goals. He was instrumental in partnering with the ASAE Foundation to launch related research: the Technology Success Study.
An ASAE member since 1994, Dave has chaired both the Membership Development Committee and the Technology Section Council. In 2013, he was the Technical Pathway Leader at ASAE’s Technology Conference & Expo.
Dave is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where he teaches requirements analysis. He has a B.S. in Computer and Information Science from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Maryland.
Jim Gibson, PMP - Strategic Consultant Technology Management, DelCor
Jim Gibson has over twenty-five years’ experience in Technology, Project Management, Change Management, Consulting, and Business Operations. He was the Director of Information Technology for American Hospital Association for over for twelve years focusing on identifying innovative ways information and technology can be leveraged to achieve desired business results.
Jim has a B.A. from Purdue University and holds certifications in Project Management, Human Resources, Six Sigma, Baldrige and ITIL Foundations. He is an active member of the Association Forum and past IT SIG Chair, Project Management Institute (PMI), the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and the American Society of Healthcare Human Resource Administrators (ASHHRA). Jim was just recently featured on Association Chat discussing how to create and manage successful Business Intelligence initiatives in your organization.
Prior to his employment at American Hospital Association in 2004, he was with Deloitte Consulting as a Senior Manager in their Human Capital practice. His focus was on Change Management and Organizational Effectiveness strategies helping large national and multi-national companies with implementing strategic best practices, deploying ERP systems, and consolidating operations.
