Association Forum and USAE’s Forty Under 40 Awards Program Named Silver “Power of A” Award Winner

(CHICAGO ) June 30, 2015—The Association Forum and USAE’s Forty Under 40® Awards Program has been named a Silver “Power of A” Award winner from the American Society of Association Executives. Each year the “Power of A” Awards recognize organizations that distinguish themselves with innovative, effective and broad-reaching programs and activities that positively impact America and the world.

The Forty Under 40 Awards program launched in 2013, annually recognizes from across the nation the 40 most up-and-coming association and nonprofit professionals under the age of 40. These individuals demonstrate a strong commitment to the association and nonprofit management profession with a high potential for success in leadership roles; have proven to think differently about engaging communities and generating revenue; and understand the value of professional “belonging.”

The Association Forum’s 18-member Awards & Recognition Committee manages the program. They use a thorough and rigorous scoring rubric to guide the selection of the 40 honorees. Once selected, honorees are interviewed for a special Forty Under 40 Awards issue of USAE. A private awards ceremony is held for the honorees in Chicago, and they are recognized in front of more than 1,200 association management professionals at the Association Forum’s Holiday Showcase® event.

"Receiving the 'The Power of A' award signifies the importance of creating opportunities to develop our future leaders, recognize them for their contributions, and help fuel their desire to continue to excel,” said Kari Natale, assistant director, development, Illinois CPA Society & CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois and Chair of Association Forum’s Awards & Recognition Committee.

Association Forum President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE stated, “The primary objective of the Forty Under 40® Awards is to provide a platform to demonstrate the many ways the work of younger association and nonprofit professionals benefits the industry and society through volunteerism, education, innovation, excellence and problem solving. It also aims to elevate awareness of the association management profession. Receiving 'The Power of A' award further validates the purpose and success of the Forty Under 40 Awards program.”

Anne Daly Heller, executive editor and publisher of USAE, said, “We are honored to be a part of recognizing these exceptional young professionals for their work, contributions and passion. They are all truly making a difference in the world through the associations they serve.”

Previous Forty Under 40 Honoree Bryan C. Harrison, PMP, QAS, CSC, senior manager of networks, Specialty Equipment Market Association, has this to say about the award: “I am very privileged to have received the Forty Under 40 Award knowing that there are more than 1.5 million nonprofits in America with many talented young leaders. Achieving the distinction as a recognized young leader committed to the success of association management will act as an additional resource to increase my reach to inspire current and next-generation professionals to enter our industry and make a difference.”

Applications for the 2015 Forty Under 40 Awards are being accepted until July 31. Complete eligibility requirements and judging criteria are available at www.associatinforum.org/40under40.
