Chicago is one of the top cities for associations as well as for sports which makes marketing very competitive. In order to stay relevant you have to be creative, take risks and sometimes completely start from scratch by flipping your marketing upside down.
Join us on September 20, from 9:00 AM-10:30 AM, to hear from Jim Burda, Vice President, Marketing Partnerships at the Chicago Sky about the similarities between marketing for a women’s sports team and marketing for associations.
Jim will discuss the challenges they face and best practices they utilize in order to compete in this competitive Chicago market. These efforts have resulted in the Sky moving from number 8 in the WNBA to number 2 in marketing partnerships narrowing in on league leader New York Madison Square Garden Properties.

About the Presenter:
Jim Burda is the current Vice President of Marketing Partnerships for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. In Jim’s first two seasons with the Sky, partnership growth has exceeded a league leading 44% increase. Previously, Jim was the National Director of Promotions for Wilson Sporting Goods, overseeing the business and promotional growth of the US Open Retail Store, Official Ball Partnership, Davis Cup and over 30 national professional events. Jim’s experience also includes Regional Director for Highland Ventures in Northern Illinois, where he managed the hiring and promotion of over 110 managers-in-training to middle and upper level management positions. Jim is a graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan, where he was a two-time NCAA Division III National Doubles Tennis Champion and former professional tennis
circuit player. He currently is a multi-association member throughout Chicagoland, and is authoring the leadership book, “Championship Leadership:
S.C.A.L.E. To Success."
