4 Keys to Success: How Small Associations Can Punch Above Their Weight
We live in an era of information and analytics. The dominance of these two trends results in both business challenges and opportunities facing associations today. The challenge is to succeed in a highly competitive environment. The opportunity is to exceed members’ expectations for information and knowledge. Failure can result in loss of relevancy, loss of member affinity, and loss of position as the trusted source.
We find that business intelligence and business information are two categories of products and services that will be in high demand in the future. We also believe these are natural lines of business for an association to pursue. Through them, an association can enhance its reputation as their sector’s trusted source of truth as well as build profitable, sustainable business activities. Associations have a strong differentiator from other types of businesses to leverage—the affinity of members and others who trust the organization and view its products and services as largely without bias.
Steve will explore how associations of any size can increase organizational value, relevancy, impact, size and revenue; increase emphasis on audiences beyond members; achieve greater revenue diversity through specialized strategies; ensure a product portfolio and business strategy aligned with target customers that drive greater engagement; and establish management and governance cultures supportive of entrepreneurship, transformative business models, and nimbleness.
