L3:  The Future of Membership Education and Engagement

Program Description:

Life-long learning (LLL or L3) is the ongoing process of gaining skills, knowledge, values and understanding to allow people to apply them confidently to all areas of their personal and professional life.  Life-long learning is of fundamental importance for economic, social and political reasons in the twenty-first century and associations have a major opportunity to serve as the vehicle for L3.  This workshop adapts lifelong learning models and theories to the association world to help you support your members in labor markets and jobs with ever-changing skills requirements. We will discuss creating a (ever elusive) learning ecosystem within your association.

Here are just a few things you’ll take away:

1.    Construct linkages between your industry and association and the need for life-long learning

2.     Create a vision and strategy for a robust learning ecosystem

3.     Identify the components of a learning ecosystem

4.     Describe association assets that can support life-long learning and a learning ecosystem

5.     Create ideas for encouraging a growth mindset among your members
